360⁰ feedback is the process of gathering feedback to understand individual’s strengths and development areas. This process often includes a self-assessment and evaluations from internal stakeholders (managers, direct reports, and peers) and, in some cases, feedback from external sources such as customers and suppliers.
Facilitating 360⁰ feedback is a critical part of performance management and leadership development. It fosters not only career and personal development goals, but also insight about the skills and behaviors required to accomplish the organizations mission, vision, goals and values. The results from 360⁰ feedback are often used to plan training and development.
The 360⁰ feedback process typically involves four primary phases: setup, enrollment, surveying and reporting.
